Hi…my name is Gordie.

My siblings and I were born on May 10, 2007, and abandoned shortly thereafter. I don’t know what happened to our mom, but our rescuer hand fed us until we could eat on our own, so we were very well socialized and simply loved human company. I’m a black Labrador retriever mix who has now grown into a pretty big 73-pound guy. I went to live with a nice family 18 months ago, but they had so much going on in their lives that they really didn’t have the time to spend molding me into the incredible dog that I’m meant to be. I love to join in a soccer game with kids (mine were 14 and 15), to play catch, fetch, race, and even hide and seek (that’s one thing most dogs don’t do!). My people said that I am a very good dog who just needs lots of love and care and more consistent training  than they could give me (but I do know “come” and “stay” – so that’s a pretty good start!). I am a bit frightened of thunderstorms, but that’s probably because I was left alone outside a lot during “monsoon season,” so with some assurance from my people that all is well, I’ll be just fine during those “thunderboomers”! I love other dogs and people and really want to please everyone, so if black Labs are your thing, then I’m the one for you.
