Hi…my name is Maggie.
I lived with my human mom and my “sister,” a Chesapeake Bay retriever, for the past 4½ years (it was neat as I got to learn all the doggie things in life from her). My mom couldn’t keep me any longer, so I’m going to need a special home, as I was born deaf (that happens a lot when blue-eyed, heeler or Aussie merles are bred together). Since I’ve been living with that “handicap” all my life though, I know hand signals very well and also have a special “Dogtra” collar that gets my attention if I’m not looking your way. There’s lots more about me in the bio my mom wrote for my new owners, but here are some of the highlights: “Maggie loves playing ball (she could do it FOREVER!), chewing on rope toys, chewing (or sometimes burying!) rawhide bones, long walks in the neighborhood, sitting on the couch with you when you’re reading or watching TV, sleeping at the foot of the bed (if she can get away with it!), being petted, and having her head scratched.” If you’ve had experience with special needs girls like me, you will be getting one amazing companion when you make me yours.
